Happy "Tails" from Caring for Cats

Pinkie

Home Sweet Home at Last-The Story of  Pinkie, Now Named Pansy!

I came to Caring for Cats with my brothers, sisters, and mom when some people found us under a porch in St. Paul. That was in April 2005. Can you imagine how scared all of us were when we arrived at the shelter?

At first we would not let anyone near us, but then we became much better with people. I was very shy and would not let anyone touch me, but then some special volunteers made it their mission to work with me so that I would not be so afraid. Eventually, I let people stroke me as long as they approached me slowly and talked in a soft voice, plus the treats they used helped too!!

I became a favorite with the volunteers, as they couldn’t resist the fact that I am so petite in size for an adult cat and that I have beautiful black and white tuxedo markings. I liked it a lot at the shelter, but what I was really longing for was a forever home that I could call my own.

Then in April 2007, a very special woman named Mary came to the shelter to adopt a cat. Her black and white tuxedo cat named Little Bit had passed away at 21 years of age. As soon as Mary saw me she fell in love, as I looked so much like her other much loved cat. She came to the shelter several times to spend time with me and decided that she just had to adopt me.

I was pretty scared at first, but I’m here to tell you that I have the best possible home in the whole wide world! I have tons of cat toys, cat treats every day, three different cat beds, and Fancy Feast canned food twice a day. My favorite spot to hang out is on the wide window ledge where I can look out at the big back yard that is filled with lots of bird feeders. Mary says that what she likes best about me is that I’m independent, inquisitive, and intelligent. I also LOVE to play.  I guess when it comes right down to it, I could not be happier than I am at my new home……purr, purr!
