Fundraiser update

Our FUNdraiser was FUN!

Fall in Love With Our Cats was the theme for our first fundraising dinner and silent auction. A group of dedicated volunteers started planning in April for this event that was held on September 15, 2006. The positive remarks from many of the 177 people who attended were so nice that we probably will have to have another (despite the long hours and many committee meetings). Some of the comments were:

“It was such a fun dinner!”
“That lasagna was good!”
“The location is so pleasant and easy to get to.”
“The auction items were so nice!”

17 kids attended with parents and friends and participated in a cat
coloring contest and Zeke the clown amused everyone during dinner.
There were 150 auction items in all, and adults were even seen bidding
on the children’s silent auction table (no one could resist those
teddy bears!). And there were lots of door prizes handed out also.
The food was catered by Yarusso's Restaurant with marvelous cake for
desert donated by Buttercream bakery.

AND-financially-we cleared over $5000! Other people who have put on these events told us not to expect much the first time - maybe to only break even - but we did lots more than that - which helps offset the considerable extra expenses we had this summer.

Thank you to all who attended in support of Caring for Cats!! And thank you to the volunteers that made this event possible-we have SUPER volunteers!!
